Working Together To End Homelessness
A transformative talk about how to better serve the LBGTQ2S+ population of youth who are experiencing homelessness. Focusing on how Covenant House Vancouver moved to a trauma-informed, resilience-focused approach for supporting young people. Learn the steps taken to create a more welcoming space for LGBTQ2S+ youth including gender-specific spaces, self-identification policies, use of pronouns, importance of language, assessment and trainings for staff, pride committee, youth advisory and much more. Chelsea Minhas is the Associate Director of Clinical Services and Program Development at Covenant House Vancouver. She is responsible for the development and successful execution of all programming and clinical services. In addition, she is responsible for oversight of Covenant House Vancouver's robust data and quality management practices, including all of the organizations program related outcome metrics. In addition, Chelsea plays a role in professional development opportunities for front line and management level staff, education in the community, research, and ensuring that Covenant House Vancouver is in line with best practice for serving homeless and at-risk youth.
